Ladies did you ever turn down a guys advances and then after some time seek that same man out again.?

The reason I ask is that I have a date 2moro and I am useless in these situations. I hope not to mess up horrendously. I'm just no good in these situations. We are both in our thirties.and I want to do enough to give the lady some pause for thought, even if it is not a yes for an other date. Given my age and hers how do I not totally bomb?
