Is this person responsible legally?

Lets say a person robs a house by breaking the door and steals $1000 cash. He leaves with the cash. Since the house door is open another person not related to the first robber walking by enters and robs the house by taking the TV, Computer ect... The owner gets home and catches the 1st person who robbed his home with 1000. Since the first robber does not have connection with the second robber does he have to pay for it? And is he criminally responsible for the second robbery?
